The World's Fair & Voice Over work by Jake Paque:
Jake
has always been in love with music. When he was in 5th grade he
decided to join band so he picked up a saxophone and blew into
it...with mixed results. Despite his music teacher suggesting that he
go with a brass instrument, Jake was determined to play the alto
saxophone, because it looked cool. Through hard work and the help of
friends Jake learned how to actually play the saxophone and eventually
became adept enough to play in an award winning jazz ensemble and combo.
Although
his scholastic musicianship left him playing classical and jazz, what
Jake listened to varied greatly. Suffice it to say that some of his
earliest memories of music are listening to: Meatloaf, Led Zepplin,
Blue Oyster Cult and Iron Butterfly with his Dad and Clash mix-tapes he
inherited from an Aunt.
As he entered high school, rock and hard
rock overtook his musical interests and when he graduated and headed to
college, the saxophone was left behind.
Although the sax days
were dead the borderline obsession with music never faltered. With
some friends from those very same jazz combos and ensembles, Jake began
to explore writing and recording music of his own. Starting with
lyricism and working his way up to composition. His first album
'Nihilism (The Rhapsody)' was a rap album recorded with friends over a
summer home from college. Once again...mixed results. For the record,
that short lived band's name was
Assassins and Astronauts and Jake's rapper name was
iRap.
The
end product was rough, to say the least. But it was an immense
learning experience and the fruits of it fueled a desire to improve,
adjust and eventually make something more...cohesive, more accessible.
At
that point, Jake embarked on the path that leads us to where we are
today. He swallowed his fear of singing, cast off the guise of hip-hop
for a more vulnerable but eventually much more effective sound; indie
rock n roll.
Jake took the recording tools taught to him by
friend and mentor The Crypt Keeper and applied them to his new band's
new album; 'Apparently Intimate' by
The World's Fair (released
in 2006). This new outfit was comprised of Jake, guitarist Jeremy
Larson and bassist Sam Weber. The album featured songs composed by the
group with lyrics written by Jake.
Since their inaugural release,
The World's Fair
has recorded several albums; 'Consecutive Life Sentences,' 'as
Vampires,' 'The World's Fair' and 'In Lieu' which is in the early
stages of development.
Along with Jake's love of music, a
fondness for sound recording and editing arose. This has been a great
boon as he continues to pursue his career in acting and Voice Over.
With his knowledge of recording, editing and sound production, he can
manufacture and export quality VO recordings and ship them directly to
clients via email or postal service.
